What juice capers? Came from a book written in 1956? About Irish funeral. "The men went to the kitchen, smoke their pipes, to take their glasses of juice capers ..." Everything I know is that they come from a plant, berries, but they seem to be pickled!
I think it's a reference to alcoholic beverages. The caper is used as a garnish martini and I also think the flavor of some types of alcohol. I need to look more closely at the passage so.
