Many people often ask me advice on installing CPVC pipe. They need new water pipes and want to know if CPVC is a good choice. Many people ask whether it is really as easy to install plumbing CPVC it seems. I mean, it requires no special tool is really easy to put together. You just pasted, what could be easier?

Like most things in life, it is not as simple as that. The truth is, CPVC is a product in perfect condition and can be an excellent choice for water pipes, but you need to know a few things to get it right. To begin, you should be able to properly size the pipe in your system and you should be able to design effective development pipeline. There are also some things you should know about CPVC piping installations in particular.

Here are some tips to help you get a good system.

Strap It Right

Strap CPVC every 4 'horizontally and at least once between the floor and ceiling vertically. Use the plastic support hooks and get the kind that hold the pipe a little out of wood. CPVC expands and contracts like all plastic pipe and if it is tight against the frame can make a lot of popping and squeaking noises as time passes.

Easy glue

Do not use too much cement CPVC. Apply glue sparingly in the fitting CPVC. If you get too much glue in the fitting, when you press the pipe into the fitting of the glue will pushed into the town. If there is enough glue pushed it can actually dissolve the hose and cause a failure. I also saw that it causes a kind of bubble of glue in the joint which dries and blocks the pipe. It's really fun to know when a part of the system does not receive water.

Use Brass or copper adapters

If you must use the nipples go ahead and pay the extra couple dollars and get the kind that have brass or copper wire instead of any kind of plastic. Sioux Chief makes some really good. You may have to go to a plumbing supply to get them, most hardware stores do not have them.

Loose Valve Tub Avoid

While you're at it, Sioux Chief makes some great products to adapt other CPVC to copper. I recommend using their preformed elbows with bathtub type of training / shower faucets. Use copper for pipes and tub spout shower head and riser use the Sioux Chief ells for input connections. This allows you to properly secure the tub / shower valves to not wiggle and swing when you use them.

Securing Hose Faucets

Similarly, the Sioux Chief ells great job with hosebibb sweat. Pipes crawl a lot and this method allows you to really fix the hose faucet so as not to be dragged out of the siding or brick.

Stay Away valves CPVC

Another tip. You can get shut off entirely CPVC. Do not use them, including valves. They are prone to leaks. The only ones I would even consider are the type of ball valve, and I had problems with them. Go ahead and use real brass valves with adapters. Again check the Sioux chief. (I promise I do not receive a commission from them). These are products that work very well.

Keep away from heat sources

Do not run CPVC pipes too close to heat sources, such as lights or vents can combustion. A good rule is to stay at least 12 "apart from these sorts of things.

Check all products for compatibility

Last of all make sure that any pipe dope or other chemicals that come into contact with any part of the piping system are approved and recognized as safe for CPVC. Some chemicals may have an adverse effect on the plastic pipe, causing failures months and even Y.
