Minor in possession of marijuana in Texas high school? What are the possible implications for this scenario?
A 16 years the car was searched at a high school in Texas and a small amount of marijuana was found inside. Marijuana is not hers, but since he was driving, he was charged with possession.
Possession of less than 2 ounces of marijuana in Texas is a misdemeanor punishable by class B up to 6 months imprisonment and a fine of 2000. Being trapped inside and 1,000 feet of school property can result in imprisonment and a fine of more. Not sure how this could apply to a high school student though.
However, if this offense is your friend marijuana first offense and he has no criminal record and is still a minor probably all you get is a court diversion program for drug and probation.
EDIT: Unfortunately, Texas is not one of those states that have decriminalized marijuana, so if he is convicted he will appear on his record of young.
drivers will be in a place hotter than her boyfriend. depending on the amount of grass has been found, they could get away with a fine, probation, and community service hours. If youre talking ounces, then they will proably nailed for intent to distribute. Good luck!
